About 20 kilometers far from Syracuse you will find the Marchesa Beach with its fine golden sand, crystal clear waters and low seabed
It’s a long beach, surrounded by maritime pines wood, near the mouth of the Cassibile river.
The beach is named after the Marquise of Cassibile , a noblewoman who chose this beach as her favourite place. Nearby there is also a castle, called Castello della Marchesa which still overlooks the valley from above.
In 1943, during the Second World War, the Allies landed on this beach.
