Small huts, houses and monuments are an integral part of this city. Here the key to everything is time; starting from the clock tower that reminds us that everything passes.
After being ravaged by the earthquake in 1693, Modica was rebuilt in Baroque style. The church San Pietro and the Dome of San Giorgio are two “gems” of the Baroque architecture in Modica: there are many similarities between the Dome of San Giorgio and the church of S.Trinità dei Monti in Rome.
Modica is also famous for a speciality: the chocolate of Modica, characterized by an ancient and old secret South American recipe. A festival called ChocoModica is held every year in the city.
