Originally the historic center of Marzamemi was an important Arab fishing village,. The Saline, the Tonnara and the first “casuzze Arabe” date back to the Arab period. Marzamemi dates back to 1752 when the Prince of Villadorata has shaped the town as it exists today; the palace, the loggia, the new Tonnara and small churches were built. Nowadays this small fishing village is one of the most popular resorts of Val di Noto and is popular for its pubs and nightlife.
